The Art of Instagram

A 90 minute workshop on how to use Instagram as a marketing tool for your artwork. The workshop will focus on tips to establish your account, gain followers, and utilize best practices in social media marketing. For those who don’t yet have an account, the last 30 minutes will be devoted to account set up and specific hands on questions.

If you want to set up your account at the workshop please come with:

A smart device (phone or tablet).
The Instagram app downloaded to your device.
At least one image of your artwork saved to the device.

Brookline Open Studios Preview Show

This year, Brookline Open Studios Weekend will be held Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30.  Since 1986, Open Studios has been an annual springtime event, held in locations all over Brookline.  This event encourages interaction and creative exchange between artists and offers the community opportunities to experience a range of vibrant and creative works of art.  The Brookline Open Studios Preview Show is now on view at the Main Library in the Foundation Case and Hunneman Hall through April 23.  It features the work of Brookline artists participating in Brookline Open Studios Weekend, and this year includes work by: Seth Aaronson, Jon Amburg, Martin R. Anderson, John Bassett, Evelyn Berde, Barry Briss, Martha Chason-Sokol, Darlene DiBona, Jean-Pierre Dubreuil, Madeline Fine, Ruth Ginsberg-Place, Susan J. Harmon, Sarah Harrington, Gillian Jackson, Audra Keefe, Ariel Kessler, Soyoung L. Kim, Marcela Klicova, Mirela Kulovic, Bette Ann Libby, Samantha Lindsay, Carolyn E. Lovit, Judy Mason, Maryellen Moran, Leon Nathan, Peg O’Connell, Robin Okun, Joseph Perkell, Peggy Peterson, Diane Piktialis, Debra Rose, Frances Schreiber, Aaron Seidman, Karen Stern, Sheryl Williams, and Yemado.

A closing public reception will be held Sunday, April 23 from 1-3:30 p.m.  Come to the reception, find the art or artist you would like to see more of during Open Studios weekend, and circle the artist’s location on the brochure!

31st Annual Brookline Open Studios Weekend

Open Studios

Brookline, MA – The 31st Annual Brookline Open Studios will be held on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30 from 11:00am-5:00pm each day.

Brookline Open Studios is a two-day event offering the public the opportunity to meet some of the town’s most vibrant and creative artists and view their work. This year’s event includes more than 60 artists set to participate at 30 locations throughout Brookline. Artists open up their home studios or showcase their work at a group exhibition site, offering the general public a glimpse into their work and creative process.

Brookline Open Studios is free to attend and many sites are within a 5- to 10-minute walk of the MBTA Green Line. Some of the larger, T-accessible sites include Brookline Senior Center, Brookline Arts Center, Inner Space, The Village Works, Framer’s Workshop and the Brookline Police Department.

Other highlights include Studio Without Walls’ annual outdoor environmental installation along Riverway Park and the Brookline Teen Center’s group site for high school artists.

A Preview Show featuring work from participating artists is on view at the Brookline Public Library Main Branch, concluding on April 23 with a reception from 1:00-3:30pm.

Free brochures are available at the Main Library and at many businesses throughout town. Visitors with smart phones or tablets can use the interactive map.


Teen Program

Brookline Open Studios invites teens to participate in this year’s open studios weekend! Our Teen Program is a way for teen artists to show their work to the community in an organized setting.


Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30

All teen work will be displayed at the Brookline Teen Center (40 Aspinwall Avenue, Brookline, MA)

You may submit up to 3 works; only one is required. All media welcome!

Participating teens are strongly encouraged to contribute up to 2 hours of time to staff the show or to assist with hanging/taking down the show. A sign-up sheet will be posted prior to the show so you can choose when and how you want to participate.

Complete a registration form and indemnification form and return it along with images of your art to Sarah Fujiwara,
